Built on accuracy and transparency

We are a private document preparation company. Here's exactly what that means and what we do and don't do.

Fees disclosed upfront

You'll see the full cost of our document preparation service before you agree to anything — no hidden charges.

Not a lender or loan servicer

We don't hold, service, or collect on your loans. Our role is limited to preparing your paperwork accurately.

Encrypted document storage

Documents you share with us are transmitted and stored using encryption, and are only used to prepare your application.

No outcome guarantees

We help you prepare complete, accurate applications for federal programs. Eligibility and approval decisions are made solely by the Department of Education or your loan servicer.

Important: We are a private document preparation company, not affiliated with the Department of Education or any government agency. Free alternatives exist at studentaid.gov.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what borrowers ask us most before getting started.

Is Student Doc Relief a government agency?

No. Student Doc Relief is a private document preparation company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Department of Education or any other government agency.

Do I have to pay to apply for federal loan programs?

No. Consolidation and income-driven repayment applications can always be filed for free, on your own, directly at studentaid.gov or through your loan servicer. Our fee covers the document preparation and review assistance we provide if you'd rather not handle the paperwork yourself.

What documents will I need to provide?

Typically your most recent loan statements, servicer information, and income documentation (such as a pay stub or tax return, depending on the program). We'll give you a specific checklist after your free document review.

How long does document preparation take?

Most applications are prepared and ready for your signature within 3–5 business days of receiving your documents. Processing time after submission is determined by your loan servicer or the Department of Education.

What's the difference between document preparation and loan servicing?

Your loan servicer manages your loan balance, payments, and account. We don't. Our service is limited to helping you organize records and complete the paperwork required to apply for federal programs — the servicer and Department of Education make all eligibility and approval decisions.

Will using this service affect my loan terms or interest rate?

No. We don't set, negotiate, or change your loan terms, balance, or interest rate. We only help prepare the paperwork for programs that already exist through the federal government.

Is my personal information secure?

Yes. Documents and information you share with us are transmitted and stored using encryption and are used only to prepare your application. See our Privacy Policy for details.
